About Dr. Bedford

Dr. Bedford’s passion for horses developed at the young age of seven after her first riding lesson. She continued riding, training, and showing hunter-jumpers and sport horses throughout her college years and following completion of a B.S. and M.S. degree from the University of Tennessee she pursued her interest in veterinary medicine at Tuskegee University. Following graduation from veterinary school Dr.Bedford moved to upstate New York where she practiced in a private equine ambulatory and referral hospital. After 3 years in private practice Dr. Bedford decided to further pursue her interest in advanced diagnostics and management of complex medical cases through completion of a three year residency at the University of Minnesota. During her residency she received advanced clinical training in Large Animal Internal Medicine as well as conducted research in Vitamin E and associated myopathy in horses. While in Minnesota Dr. Bedford also served integral role in the development of the University’s Equine Ambulatory program that provided veterinary services to local horse owners as well as practical hands on experience to veterinary students. Dr. Bedford enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a special interest in endocrinology, neuromuscular disease, lameness, and acupuncture.
